It’s been a long time. In fact, it’s been too long. What better way to get back into the swing of things than by doing what I love - writing.
If you’ve read any of my posts from the past couple of years, you know I love keyboards. Since getting my first mechanical keyboard in November 2013, I’ve fallen in love again with the one thing we all seem to forget about. I want to use this blog now as an opportunity to share my excitement and discoveries with this fascinating device. Sure, there’s lots of information on keyboards on the internet: forums, subreddits, videos, the whole nine yards. But how much of that is personal? You would probably think it’s all factual and whatnot, and you’re right, this usually is the case. The personal aspect of a personal computing accessory gets lost in all of these reviews/posts/ videos that are objective for the sake of brevity, if only to expand the audience. This is fine, but I strive to bring back the personalization to computing devices - like keyboards. There’s one thing every writer/reviewer/content creator strives for - zen: finding the balance of personal thought with the expansion possibilities that come along with objective criticism. I think I can find that balance, and I think I can find it best when compared to others.
That’s why I’m creating the Insane Keyboard Review blog series. Every so often, I’ll write an insane review on a keyboard I happen to find. It doesn’t seem like it will happen that often, but it will happen often enough. Heck, I’ve already got one for the Razer BlackWidow Ultimate on my other (now defunct) blogging page. What comprises of an Insane Keyboard Review will be the following:
- 2500+ word count minimum per review
- Detailed descriptions of the components/functions that often are glanced over
- Images! Who doesn’t love a good photograph?
- 5/5 Scale system in a number of categories such as Value, Price, Feel, etc.
Other topics related to keyboards will still use Insane Keyboard but may be replaced with something like tips or advice. I’ll probably even do one that says history (keyboard history is very important).
Stay tuned, because I’m looking forward to this adventure as much as you are!
